Students make Eco – friendly Ganesha in Amity University!

Amity Institute of Environmental Sciences organized Eco-friendly Ganesha making workshop sponsored by ‘Youth for Seva’ in which so many students took participation.  The students in small groups made images of Ganesha in different forms and displayed them. Event coordinator Rajitha enlightened the students on the ill-effects of Plaster of Paris (POP) and its harmful impact on the environment.  She also said that the motive of the event was to promote and celebrate the festival in a sustained way and to encourage the youngsters to go eco – friendly this ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’.
Many students took a pledge not to use POP in the future. Sushmita, one of the participant shared her experience and said ” I feel so good after making this eco- friendly Ganesha, I will not buy it from the market now. I made it and I will spread the message to all my family and friends.”   Professor Tanu Jindal, Director, Amity Institute of Environmental Sciences said such activities by children will create awareness on eco-friendliness, in addition to bringing out their creative potential.
