Indian men’s hockey team defeats Hong- Kong 26-0

In a historic game, India’s men hockey team on Wednesday thrashed Hong Kong  26-0 in the Pool B match of the ongoing Asian Games in Indonesia. This was India’s highest victory margin in an international competition with the previous best being a 24-1 win over USA in the 1932 Olympics.
The record for biggest win in international hockey remains with New Zealand, who beat Samoa 36-1 in 1994. Rupinder Pal Singh was the top-scorer for India with five goals while Harmanpreet Singh and Akashdeep Singh contributed with four and three goals respectively. Lalit Upadhyay, Varun Kumar, and Manpreet Singh were not far behind as they scored two goals each. The rest of goals were scored by Sunil SV, Surender Kumar, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Amit Rohidas, Chinglensana Kangujam, Mandeep Singh, Simranjeet Singh and Dilpreet Singh.
