Rahul Gandhi congratulates ragpicker’s son for cracking AIIMS entrance

Asharam Choudhary who hails from Dewas in Madhya Pradesh cracked the prestigious AIIMS MBBS entrance exam test in his very first attempt and has been receiving compliment since then. This time it is Congress President Rahul Gandhi who has congratulated Asharam Choudhary, the son of a ragpicker in Madhya Pradesh.
Asharam will now pursue MBBS at AIIMS, Jodhpur. Despite living in a miserable condition, with no electricity and toilet in the house, the young energetic boy who was hard at work secured the 141st rank in the OBC category and 707 rank overall in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences entrance test held on May 27. He cleared the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), conducted on May 6, achieving the 803rd rank in the OBC category and 2,763 overall.
In the letter of encouragement for Asharam Choudhary, Rahul Gandhi wrote “I congratulate you on clearing the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance test in your first attempt and getting selected at Jodhpur AIIMS to pursue Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)… I extend my best wishes to you and hope you will contribute to nation-building,” Gandhi said in the letter.  “I am aware that despite all challenges you were able to secure good rank. It is a testament to their dedication and your hard work that you have performed so well,” he said, adding it gave him immense pleasure to note how Asharam’s village doctor and parents inspired him in his journey and Dakshana Foundation supported him financially.
Asharam wants to open a hospital in his village in Devas after completing his education. “I want to return to my Vijayganj Mandi village and set up a hospital there so that everyone has the privilege of medical facilities,” he said. My father is a ragpicker. He also did odd jobs to make ends meet. Now, he wants to open a small vegetable shop,” he said.
