Sixteen years old young Indian shooter Manu Bhaker, astonished everyone as she fired a 10.6 last shot to clinch the gold in woman’s air pistol in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Bhaker beat the host country’s Alejandra Zavala, a two-time World Cup Finals winner, with a 10.8 in the last shot of the 24 shot final, to reach on top with a score of 237.5. Zavala ended at 237.1 while Celine Goberville of France clinched the bronze with a score of 217.0.
Reacting after winning the individual medal, Manu Bhaker said, “I am extremely happy at winning Gold, especially as this is my first World Cup. I look forward to performing even better in upcoming competitions.”
Manu Bhaker in fact made everyone proud once again as she bagged gold in 10m Air Pistol mixed team event with Om Prakash Mitharval after bagging the top prize in 10m Air Pistol event in the women’s category.
