India shooter Shahzar Rizvi made his maiden International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup appearance a memorable one by clinching a gold medal at Guadalajara, Mexico.
The Meerut-based Rizvi shot a world record 242.3 in the 10m air pistol event’s final to beat ruling Olympic champion Christian Reitz of Germany, 239.7, to win the gold. Ace India shooter Jitu Rai won the bronze in the event with a score of 219 points.
Another Indian debutant Mehuli Ghosh won bronze in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle final with a score of 228.4. Anjum Moudgil, Chandigarh based rifle shooter finished fourth with 208.6 and Apurvi Chandela seventh with 144.1 in Women’s 10m Air Rifle final.
